Hidalgo County (KFXV) — The case of an 11 month old baby’s death returns to a courtroom.
The minor died from blunt force trauma to the head. His mother was sentenced to 20 years in prison and now a second person faces a judge in this investigation.
The baby’s family met at the Hidalgo County courthouse once more looking for justice.
Today Johnny Palomo stood before a judge. Palomo is facing charges for capital murder and several counts of injury to a child.
Palomo is identified by investigators as the boyfriend of the baby’s mother.
Just 5 month ago, the mother, Vanessa Flores was convicted in connection to her son’s death to 20 years in prison for injury to a child and not assisting even though she was aware of the abuse. Flores was also present giving her testimony in the case.
Today prosecutors presented images of the baby, photographs taken on the day of the minor’s death.
Fox Cameras captured bruises on his face and body as well as a bloody blanket, all part of evidence in the trial. Investigators also provided their testimony.
According to officials an autopsy revealed the 11 month old baby died after receiving blunt force trauma to his skull.
The arguments will continue tomorrow with additional testimonies and evidence.
If Johnny Palomo is found guilty for the murder of his girlfriend’s baby he could spend the rest of his life in prison.
