La Puerta Negra Murder Trial Postponed
The trial of a man accused of killing his cousin and shooting two other men at La Puerta Negra Bar in Mercedes has been postponed.
Gabriel Hernandez showed up at an Hidalgo County Courtroom Thursday. Defense attorneys and prosecutors requested additional time pending DNA and ballistic results from the Department of Public Safety.
The case stems from a shooting in rural Mercedes in July where Hernandez’s cousin Luis Fernando Lara died. Hernandez faces murder and attempted capital murder charges. A judge ordered the trial to be postponed until mid-January.
