La Joya (KFXV) — The La Joya Housing Authority now has a new director.
Melissa Armijo is the new appointed interim director after former executive director Juan Jose “JJ” Garza was arrested. Garza of 52 years old is facing fraud charges. Fox 2 News told you about his arrest on Friday.
The indictment alleges that from July 2012 through March 2013, Garza engaged in bid rigging for construction contracts with the Alamo and Donna Housing Authorities. If convicted, he and one other face 20 years in prison and a possible $250,000 maximum fine.
