Hidalgo County (KFXV) – The arrest of one of their own after an investigation revealed he sexual assaulted an inmate.
The ex-jailer identified as Michael Hinojosa is facing one charge for improper sexual activity with a person in custody.
Investigators say the sexual abuse happened in the booking area while the inmate waited to have his fingerprints taken. We spoke to a woman outside the Hidalgo County Jail releasing office who says the arrest is hard to believe.

Hidalgo County Sheriff, Eddie Guerra published a statement stating the investigation started with a use of force incident between Hinojosa and the inmate from the onset.
We asked what they classify as a use of force situation.
Which raises the question– why in the statement the sexual abuse was not specified.
Chief Joel Rivera confirms how this case is being treated.
Rivera says the sheriff’s office is currently looking at policy procedures to prevent this from happening again.
Hinojosa is fired from the Hidalgo County Jail however his detention officer license is still active and will be revoked if convicted.
