Last week Fox 2 News told you about a severe case of child abuse out of Mercedes involving a ten month old baby. Tonight we spoke with the father of the infant who says baby Dylan is alive and well.
10 month old Dylan is doing better this evening after facing near death injuries last week when his mother’s boyfriend.
32 year old Agustin Reyes was charged with injury the child. Reyes is now in Hidalgo county jail with a seven hundred and fifty thousand dollar bond.
Meanwhile Dylan’s mother faces injury to a child by omission charges for not reporting the incident.
With Dylan’s mother behind bars, his biological father, David Villarreal is fighting a new battle of his own in trying to gain custody of his son.
Villarreal tells Fox 2 News his son’s health is first priority. Especially after the internal and external injuries Dylan suffered in the hands of his mother’s boyfriend. Villarreal tells Fox 2 News, his baby’s health is improving.
“He’s eating on his own now. His head band is off. Thank god he’s doing a lot better,” explains David Villarreal, Dylan’s father.
The court hearing is scheduled for tomorrow and it will be then when a judge will decide if Dylan will go home with his father or with a foster family. Villarreal says all he can do is hope for the best.
“Tomorrow we’ll have court for that to see if he will be inside my family if not he’s going to a foster home I hope he doesn’t but tomorrow we will find out,” says Villarreal.
Villarreal adds that he is grateful for all the support he and his family have been receiving after the tragedy that happened to Dylan last week. He says the prayers and well wishes have made this difficult time a little bit better.
