McAllen (KFXV) — As we get closer to the elections, local organizations are focusing on issues to vote on this November, such as Proposition 1.
A debate that took place at the Salvation army in McAllen to discuss the establishment of a healthcare district for Hidalgo County.
The McAllen citizens league hosted a debate where speakers discussed their stance on proposition one. Dr. Martin Garza, who supports the creation of a healthcare district, says that this measure will allow Hidalgo County residents to receive medical care close to home.

Opposing the proposal is Commissioner Eddie Cantu, who believes alternate funding sources should be considered.

Proposition one seeks to provide greater access to healthcare, create over 2000 jobs and training to students in the medical field.

The one thing everyone seems to agree on is the importance of informing yourself and heading to the polls these coming elections to cast your vote.
