The deadline for Hidalgo County residents to leave their comments regarding the proposal of Highway 68 is just a few days away.

Those who have left their comments say it’s essential for everyone that might be affected to voice their opinion.

Friday is the deadline for those residents who live in the area where the new state highway will be built by next year.

One of the proposed areas will affect residents on Alberta Road. Many are aware and have voiced their opinion, but some have not.

Mrs. Nicolasa Martinez and her husband have lived on Alberta Road for more than 50 years.

Losing their home, they say, is like losing everything they have worked for and why voicing their opinion is so important.

“Because I don’t want to move myself, at my age i don’t want to move. I wasn’t born here, but I want to die here.”
