A previously deported Mexican national and admitted ‘brush guide’ is now behind bars after attacking a U.S. Border Patrol agent.

The incident took place around 5 pm Monday, as agents encountered a group of undocumented immigrants south of Highway 285, north of the Sarita Border Patrol checkpoint. According to officials, one of the males in the group began biting one of the agents in an attempt to resist arrest. After a brief struggle, the suspect was detained. At the station, it was learned that the individual was the brush guide, leading the group of undocumented immigrants. He was taken to the Kingsville Border Patrol Station for processing. As for the agent, he was transported to hospital, treated for the bite-wounds, and later released to full duty.
