Raymondville (KFXV) — 16 people were transported to the hospital after a bus rollover.
The bus was transporting inmates to the Willacy Correctional Facility when it happened. Fox News obtained an exclusive interview with the family who own the property where the accident happened.

We spoke to the Rodriguez family who say some of their employees were working in the field where the accident happened. They tell me tonight they are thankful their employees are alive.

Broken glass, soap, a shoe, toilet paper and other personal belongings are the only thing left on the Rodriguez’s property after a bus with 16 inmates rolled over landing right on this field.

Irma Rodriguez says her and her husband rushed out of their home after hearing screeching tires, only to find a bus in the middle of their property. A bus Irma tells me thought it was the school bus her grandson was traveling in.

She quickly learned that was not the case.

The family showed us where they found the men who they say appeared to be greatly injured.

Lieutenant Johnny Hernandez with the Department of Public Safety tells us 16 inmates and 2 correctional officers were transported to the hospital after the driver was forced off the road.

He adds fog and the slick road conditions were also contributing factors in the accident.

Tonight the Rodriguez family tells me they hope to soon hear from the state as to the repairs on their property adding they are glad it was only material damage.

We are told only two of the 16
