EDINBURG (KFXV) — Edinburg police are on the hunt for a 12 year old girl who is believed to be in Mexico.

According to authorities she may be with her boyfriend but they are investigating the case as a kidnapping.

It has been more than 24 hours since the 12 year old has gone missing. Officials say they made contact with the boyfriend but he refuses to bring back the girl to her family.

Its been an emotional day for Elvia Alonso–she tells FOX 2 NEWS she can’t believe what she’s going through and just wants her granddaughter back.

12 year old, Sabrina Isabella has been missing since early Monday morning and is believed to be with her boyfriend who is between 18 and 20 years old, identified as Jose Morales. Authorities say the couple met on social media.

Police made contact with the boyfriend – through phone contact – who told them, they ran off to Mexico and are not coming back.

Sabrina’s grandmother says Morales had been to the home several times but this last time he took her and even though there were people in the house nobody noticed.

Police say Jose Morales is an undocumented immigrant from Mexico and are looking to press kidnapping charges on him.
